This school district is ‘symbolically’ arming teachers – you’ll never guess what that means

What’s going on?

Some conservatives in the gun control debate have been urging schools to allow teachers with concealed carry permits to arm themselves. This school district’s idea wasn’t what they had in mind.

“Arming” teachers with … toy baseball bats?

The Millcreek Township School District in Pennsylvania has equipped teachers with 16-inch wooden baseball bats as part of their new training to prepare in case of an attempted mass murder situation.

And no, this isn’t even the bat that let Carrie Underwood do a lot of damage in the “Before He Cheats” music video. The superintendent says the miniature bats are largely "symbolic" weapons to be used as a last resort and represent the district encouraging teachers to fight back.

Doc’s take:

On today’s show, Doc and Kris were pretty sure they would rather bring a gun to a gun fight because a symbol won’t be much help.
