Self-proclaimed 'democratic-socialist' grew up in one of the wealthiest zip codes in America

As you might recall, the self-proclaimed "democratic-socialist" Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who delivered a blow to an establishment Democrat in New York's 14th congressional district in a primary last month, isn't exactly what her Twitter bio professed her to be.

A recent report by the Journal News found that Ocasio-Cortez, who claimed to be "a girl from the Bronx" actually grew up in one of America's wealthiest zip codes.

Ocasio-Cortez has used this obscure fact as leverage. She claimed that much of her worldview was defined by a 40-minute ride between the public school and her family home north of Yorktown. But the one thing she left out was the fact that the family moved away from New York City to a ritzy suburb north of Yorktown Heights.

This suburb is known for being one of the wealthiest counties in the country dispelling her "girl from the Bronx" narrative to win political points with her base.
