Star Trek fan's vanity license plate censored by snowflakes

A Star Trek fan is losing his “ASIMIL8” vanity license plate because it isn’t politically correct.

Nick Troller of Winnipeg, Canada, had the license plate featuring the Borg quotes “Resistance is futile” and “We are the Borg” for two years before getting a call from Manitoba Public Insurance. An alien race in the Star Trek universe, the Borg, conquers other aliens and assimilates them into their own culture.

Two people had called to complain that the license plate was offensive because of Canada’s history of forcing indigenous people to assimilate, according to the insurance agency. Troller doesn’t have the option of an appeal process, and Manitoba Public Insurance said the license plate’s approval process will be investigated.

On Wednesday’s “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson,” Doc Thompson and the guys talked about the license plate as the latest example of political correctness gone mad.

“When you’re dealing with the government, resistance is futile,” Doc said. “I don’t know where you go from there if a simple word is triggering somebody.”

To see more from Doc, visit his channel on TheBlaze and listen live to “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson” weekdays 6–9 a.m. ET, only on TheBlaze Radio Network.
