Carrie Matula, a Sutherland Springs resident who was close by when Sunday’s shooting happened, talked about the scary experience and what life is like in the close-knit community where people help each other and pray together.

The grieving process for the small town will be a long one.

“It’s hard to digest all of the loss that’s coming into light, the names and the victims,” Matula said. “It’s just devastating.”
