(Spoiler: She's not)
A 41-year-old Massachusetts woman is facing charges after reportedly assaulting a young man who was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat.
What are the details?
The incident in question took place at a Falmouth, Massachusetts, Mexican restaurant last week.
Bryton Turner, 23, was wearing the hat inside the eatery, reportedly minding his own business, when Rosiane Santos stalked over and began harassing the young man over his hat.
According to video obtained by WFXT-TV, Santos approached him and began berating him for his hat. She then knocked the hat off of the young man's head.
Turner caught the video on his cell phone.
Geo Macarao, a bartender at the eatery, told WFXT that Turner was minding his own business when Santos approached him.
"[H]e just walked in and ordered his food," Macarao said.
After police arrived on the scene, Santos reportedly told them that Turner shouldn't be allowed to wear such an offensive hat inside a Mexican restaurant. Despite being taken away by police, Santos tried to make another swipe at Turner on her way out the door.
"She just tried to grab my hat in front of four officers," Turner said. "Not smart."
Macarao added, "I couldn't imagine somebody just coming up and hitting them when there's cops right there."
Santos — a Brazilian immigrant — later said that she was actually the victim in the incident, and told police that Turner's hat upset her.
“I had a little bit to drink maybe that's the reason that I couldn't walk away but being discriminated for so many times in my life, I just had to stand up for myself," she explained. "He's not a victim. I am the victim. I have been bullied, OK?"
Police charged Santos with disorderly conduct, as well as assault and battery.
