Thug pushes woman to ground, climbs on top of her, begins choking her, tries to expose his genitals — then pair of Good Samaritans come to the rescue

A male pushed a woman to the ground in Brooklyn, climbed on top of her, began choking her with one hand, and tried to expose his genitals with his other hand — but a pair of Good Samaritans intervened, forcing the attacker to run away.

Police on Thursday told the New York Daily News that the attacker — a stranger — tried to talk to the 36-year-old victim as she walked on Clarkson Avenue in Prospect Lefferts Gardens around 9:40 p.m. Aug. 28.

As they neared Bedford Avenue, the attacker turned on the victim, pushed her to the ground, and climbed on top of her, the paper said.

The attacker then choked the victim with one hand and tried to expose himself with the other hand, the Daily News said.

But police told the paper a 46-year-old man and 39-year-old woman ran over to the attack scene, and the man knocked the attacker off the woman, forcing the attacker to flee east on Clarkson Avenue.

The victim suffered minor injuries but declined medical attention, the Daily News said.

Police on Thursday released surveillance images of the suspect and are asking the public’s help in identifying him and tracking him down, the paper said.

The suspect is described as about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds with a dark complexion, medium build, and dreadlocks, the Daily News said, adding that he was wearing a green T-shirt, brown pants, and black sneakers.

The paper said anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS; all calls will be kept confidential.
