RNC chair Ronna McDaniel dumps cold water on Nikki Haley's presidential bid

After former President Donald Trump defeated former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley in the New Hampshire GOP presidential primary, Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel dumped cold water on Haley's ongoing presidential bid, indicating that she does not see a path for Haley to win.

"I do think there is a message that's coming out from the voters which is very clear. We need to unite around our eventual nominee, which is gonna be Donald Trump," McDaniel said.

Haley, who lost to Trump in the Granite State on Tuesday after placing third in the Iowa Republican presidential caucuses last week, has indicated that she plans to press on with her White House bid.

But many Republicans have been backing Trump, who appears likely to win the GOP's 2024 presidential nod. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who came in a distant second place in Iowa, suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump prior to the New Hampshire contest.

"Nikki 'Birdbrain' Haley is very bad for the Republican Party and, indeed, our Country," Trump declared in a post on Truth Social. "I knew Nikki well, she was average at best, is not the one to take on World Leaders, and she never did. That was up to me, and that is why they respected the United States," Trump claimed.

"When I ran for Office and won, I noticed that the losing Candidate's 'Donors' would immediately come to me, and want to 'help out.' This is standard in Politics, but no longer with me. Anybody that makes a 'Contribution' to Birdbrain, from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp. We don't want them, and will not accept them, because we Put America First, and ALWAYS WILL!" Trump declared.

Haley served as U.S. ambassador to the U.N. during a portion of Trump's presidential tenure.
