Rep. Rashida Tlaib capitalizing off 'impeach the motherf*****!' rallying cry

Leading chants, selling t-shirts...

Freshman Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) has wasted no time basking in the recent fruition of her hopes: The congresswoman's campaign promise to "impeach the motherf******" — meaning President Donald Trump — became "formal" this week, and she has taken action to milk what she can out of the opportunity.

What are the details?

On Tuesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced that an official impeachment inquiry would proceed against the president, after months of pressure from far-left members of her caucus, including Tlaib.

Rep. Tlaib garnered attention after being seated in January, declaring at a MoveOn event: "We're gonna impeach the motherf*****!"

Her proclamation became a rallying cry for liberal progressives, and she's using the impeachment news as a way to drum up support and dollars.

Thursday afternoon, Tlaib led a pro-impeachment rally at the Capitol, according to Fox News, urging the crowd to shout out her profane slur for the president by shouting, "We are ready to impeach..." to which the crowd responds, "the motherf*****!"

RedState noticed that Tlaib was also making money off the phrase, reporting that the congresswoman was using Democratic fundraising site ActBlue to sell t-shirts bearing the branded line to support her re-election campaign.

Anything else?

According to a Detroit Free Press article from this week, Tlaib could be here to stay. No one has yet signed up to challenge the congresswoman's seat from either party, and — given her name recognition — she may have a safe haven in Democrat-heavy Detroit.
