Jen Psaki tells Democrats who are 'pissed off' about Biden's 'devastating' week to have a margarita

White House press secretary Jen Psaki had odd advice on Friday for Democrats who were angered by legislative failures in a "devastating" week for President Joe Biden and his agenda.

Psaki was being interviewed on "The View" when she was asked about the Democrats' failed campaign to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and the Freedom to Vote Act after centrist senators refused to kill the filibuster.

"The path forward is we have to keep fighting. Look, I think this week has been frustrating, devastating, angering, all of those things," said Psaki to Linsey Davis.

"And everybody who's been fighting for this, there are so many activists across the country that have been so central to getting to this point. I mean, just a year ago there were more people who were opposed to filibuster changes in the Senate, so we've made some progress on that front, but we have to stay at it," she continued.

"So my advice to everyone out there who is frustrated, sad, angry, pissed off: Feel those emotions, go to kickboxing class, have a margarita, do whatever it is you need to do this weekend, and then wake up on Monday morning; we've got to keep fighting," Psaki added.

"And what that means, Linsey, is we have to keep talking to members about federal legislation, that's essential," she explained, "that's something that can be permanent, that can make sure people's rights are protected, but we also need to make sure people are educated in states across the country about what their rights are."

Liberals have lambasted both Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona for refusing to vote against the filibuster rule in order to pass bills through the Senate with a simple majority. Some reports show that other Democrats have expressed private anxiety about changing Senate rules so radically ahead of midterm elections as Republicans are poised to take back control of Congress.

While some on the right mocked Psaki's suggestion to have a margarita, many on the left were furious at the advice from the White House.

"Frustrated that the government is abandoning you to disease, climate disaster and tyranny? Throw back a margarita, hit a kickboxing class & then get back to work begging us to do something!" tweeted activist Bree Newsome.

After Psaki completed her comments, a View co-host off-screen added, "a Margarita or two!"
