Nancy Pelosi says President Trump gives grounds for impeachment every day

Doesn't really fit with her previous statements

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) appeared to be much more amenable to impeachment of President Donald Trump in her newest statement on whether there was enough evidence for the divisive action.

"I think the president every day gives grounds for impeachment in terms of his obstruction of justice," said Pelosi while speaking to the graduating class at Georgetown University Law Center.

"You never say blanketly I'm not answering any subpoenas," she explained. "Article three of the Nixon impeachment was he refused to honor the subpoenas of Congress. So you know, but again you mention history, so I mention that as a reference."

Pelosi went on to warn that impeachment takes time and that those calling for it are acting out of impatience for the process.

"But everyone today is immediate gratification," she said.

"You got a subpoena? We want somebody to go to jail!" she mocked, in the voice of her detractors. "No, it takes time!"

Pelosi's comments about impeachment have been evolving since she said it wasn't worth the trouble to impeach the president in March. Pressure from her left has forced her to say in defense that Trump is goading Democrats to impeach, and this latest statement saying there are daily examples of violations justifying impeachment.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll reported that 45 percent of Americans support impeachment, while 42 percent do not support impeachment for the president.
