One of Nashville's 'Most Wanted' fugitives arrested, charged with strangulation, kidnapping

Nashville authorities ended a months-long search for one of the city's "Most Wanted," making the arrest last week.

Archangalena Tassy was arrested last week after being on the run for almost eight months. The 39-year-old was initially indicted on charges of assaulting a minor and kidnapping the minor's child, according to WKRN.

Though the indictment was handed down on January 25, 2023, the charges stretch back to July 5, 2022. The investigation was kicked off after police officers appeared at an apartment for claims that a 1-month-old child had gone missing.

After the police arrived on the scene, they were reportedly told by a minor that her child had been taken by her boyfriend, Tyler Tassy, 20, and his mother, Archangalena, per the report. The minor claimed that she had been living with the Tassy family before moving back to her mother's apartment after an argument broke out about who the father of the child was.

Later that same day, Tyler and Archangalena apparently showed up at the minor's mother's home. They were either let in by a small child or the door was unlocked, according to the report.

Shortly after they arrived, the situation escalated into assault. Authorities say that the baby's mother had marks on her arm and the right side of her face. The minor's sister, who also lived at the apartment, was discovered to have visible marks on her chest, forehead, and left arm, according to the report.

The indictment apparently charged Archangalena with aggravated assault and also asserted that "strangulation or attempted strangulation" was also involved. According to the Howard Gentry Criminal Court Clerk, Archangalena faces a number of charges, including two counts of assault, burglary, strangulation, and kidnapping.

Tyler also faces charges related to the alleged assault.

After the altercation at the minor's mother's home, she told the police officers that Archangalena "ripped the baby away from her" and quickly fled the location. After a search was conducted, officers discovered the woman and child at the Family Safety Center, both reportedly unharmed. Archangalena Tassy was not arrested at that time.

Archangalena was just one among many people who appeared on Nashville's "Most Wanted" list, which was launched on October 19, 2022. Since then, at least 74 people on the list have been taken into custody.

Archangalena was previously charged 2019 for allegedly assaulting her own child, which resulted in bruising her own knuckles. While she claimed that it was discipline, the authorities said what she did was assault.

Archangalena's bond was set at $15,000, and she is set to appear in court on Wednesday. The judge in the case is Angelita Blackshear Dalton.
