Trick-or-treaters shot and killed teenager on Halloween, Las Vegas police say

North Las Vegas Police said they are searching for two trick-or-treaters who allegedly shot and killed a teenager on Halloween night.

Police said they were called to the area of Shadow Oak and Spotted Pony drives at about 9:45 p.m. and found a teenager with a gunshot wound. Medical personnel pronounced him dead after treating him.

The victim's mother, Maureisha Johnson, identified him as 17-year-old SeMauri Norris-Johnson and said she had let him go trick-or-treating with his friends that night.

Police believe that a group of teenagers in ski masks got out of a car and approached two trick-or-treaters before one of them pulled a gun and shot at the group.

The two were described by police as “juvenile males." One wore all black with a red backpack and a black ski mask. The other wore a white mask from the movie "Scream." Both also had blinking lights in order to make them more visible at night.

“He was not looking for trouble. He was not that kind of kid,” said the mother to KLAS-TV. She said that he was a junior that played football at Desert Pines High School and was on his way to college.

She was upset that she was not allowed to see her son when she arrived at the scene.

“To not let me, I mean, even if you don’t want to disrupt a crime scene, then I should, once they were getting him up and things like that, why not let a mother see their child? It’s just traumatizing,” Johnson said.

Police are seeking security video from the neighborhood to aid them in identifying the two trick-or-treaters. Residents said they were shocked and horrified by the incident because the neighborhood was usually quiet.

“I deserve some type of closure and answers to the situation as to why this happened,” Johnson said emotionally.
