Woman who said she threw away her infant son's body found stabbed to death by baby's father: Report

The Washington, D.C., mother who said she threw away her baby's body after he reportedly died in his sleep has been murdered.

Police say the body of 39-year-old LaDonia Boggs was discovered inside a city apartment on Wednesday after sustaining an apparent stab wound.

On Wednesday, officers with the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 44-year-old Carl Jones — the father of Boggs' infant son — and charged him with second-degree murder while armed.

The offense, police said, was "domestic in nature."

Boggs in 2021 was seen on recording saying that she placed her 2-month-old son's body in a dumpster after claiming he died in his sleep. She was originally charged with felony murder in the death of the child, Kyon Jones.

In the video, Boggs said, "The last thing that I remember was that I had rolled over, and he was on my chest. After that, when I was 'sleep, rolled over, noticed he was unresponsive — breathing — and I panicked."

She then went on to detail how she disposed of the child's body, wrapping him in a blanket and placing him in the trash.

"I came back in the house and got a blanket and his car seat, and wrapped it up and took it outside and just throwed it in the trash,” she said on the recording.

At the time, she admitted to taking PCP before inadvertently rolling over onto the infant.

Prosecutors dropped the felony murder charge and instead charged her with tampering with evidence. Boggs was awaiting an October trial.

Authorities searched a Virginia landfill for the infant's remains, but to no avail — the child's body has yet to be found.

Police continue to investigate Boggs' death and have said it is unknown at the time of this reporting whether her murder has anything to do with the death of her child.
