18-year-old 'Kia Boy' charged in violent crime spree in Seattle was caught on video mocking victim: 'I know you mad!'

An 18-year-old man was arrested for a violent crime spree in Seattle, and among the evidence is cellphone footage showing him mocking a victim as he hangs out of the window of a car.

Ardrell Davis appeared in court on Wednesday to face charges related to five robberies committed in one night in September.

"I know you mad! I know you mad!" Davis yells at the victim, a mother, in front of her children in the video while his criminal associates stole her Kia minivan. He reportedly referred to himself as "Kia Boy" as he drove off.

Prosecutors say Davis was involved in five robberies of gas stations in Bellevue, Burien, Seattle SeaTac and Tukwila, on Sept. 19.

"These were brazen, violent, organized robberies in which the defendant and other subjects used a stolen car for transport from gas station to gas station," said a prosecutor on Wednesday in court.

Police also arrested a second man named Ralphe Manuma they said participated in the robberies.

"In one of the robberies, the clerk was pistol-whipped," said the prosecutor. Images showed a clerk with a bloody wound on the back of his head.

Investigators said that surveillance video showed that the same car was used in the robberies and that the suspects wore similar clothing in all of the robberies. One wore very distinctive red-colored pants with the word "Boondocks" printed on the side.

Davis pleaded not guilty to the charges. His mother and his attorney asked the judge to release Davis to the custody of his mother because she had been a corrections officer for six years.

"I work here, literally right across the street from the courthouse, and will make sure he won’t miss any court dates," said the mother to the judge. "My son really is not really a violent person, and he has never been charged with any crimes of violence, or at all, and I hope the court can take that into account."

Prosecutors argued that Davis was a threat to the community and presented evidence that he had allegedly lied about where he was living and also that he had his girlfriend allegedly destroy evidence in the case.

The judge sided with the prosecution and kept bail for Davis at $500,000.

"His mother, and he and his girlfriend, had a conversation that potentially implicates interference with the administration of justice, so the request is denied," the judge said.

Court documents said Davis is facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest in a separate court and Manuma had previously been convicted as a juvenile in possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful firearm possession, and carrying a dangerous weapon on school premises.
