Comms director for Kamala Harris resigns after damaging report and growing criticism

The communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris resigned on Thursday as more and more criticism is being leveled against Harris' performance in office.

The resignation of Ashley Etienne will become effective next month.

"Ashley is a valued member of the Vice President's team, who has worked tirelessly to advance the goals of this administration," said a White House official to Fox News. "She is leaving the office in December to pursue other opportunities."

Harris has come under increasing criticism and scrutiny after numerous instances where her competence in fulfilling her office has come into question.

For instance:

President Joe Biden put Harris in charge of the growing crisis at the border but she snapped at a reporter when she was questioned about her failure to even visit the border. She also grew very quiet about the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle after initially crediting herself for aiding in the decision.

Harris was ridiculed by many on the right when she was featured in an oddly staged video with children that were later discovered to have been hired actors.

On Sunday, a CNN report documented frustration and dysfunction between the vice president's office and that of the president. Supporters of Harris believe that she has been forced to deal with thankless jobs while Biden staffers are upset with Harris' "lack of focus."

Much of the frustration comes as a result of Harris' plummeting approval in recent polls. In August, a Rasmussen poll found that more than half of Americans, 55%, believed that she was "not qualified" or "not at all qualified" to assume the duties of the presidency. Only 43% said she was qualified to assume the duties.

Supporters of Harris in the media have resorted to blaming racism, white supremacy, and sexism for her collapsing poll numbers.

"She's perceived to be in such a weak position that top Democrats in and outside of Washington have begun to speculate privately, asking each other why the White House has allowed her to become so hobbled in the public consciousness, at least as they see it," said the CNN report.
