'I have never seen anything like this': Thousands of illegal immigrants sleeping outside while awaiting processing

Thousands of illegal immigrants awaiting processing spent the night sleeping in a makeshift apprehension site in Eagle Pass, Texas, recently.

Reporter Tayler Hansen reported alongside row after row of migrants sleeping on the ground in emergency blankets.

"Inside make-shift migrant apprehension site in Eagle Pass, TX. Thousands of illegal migrants have been sleeping here as they wait to be apprehended and processed. Some have been here for over 24 hours. In all my years of reporting I have never seen anything like this," Hansen reported on X.

"Border Patrol is actually heading a few miles down and picking these migrants up off the street. Instead of making them walk they are giving them rides," he continued. The reporter also noted a large number of "single men" awaiting processing as well.

Reports of the continued chaos at the border come as Texas Governor Greg Abbott ratified legislation effectively making illegal immigration a state crime. Police will soon be able to arrest foreign nationals who illegally cross into the U.S. Magistrates will also be able to order illegal aliens to leave the country.

"Four years ago, the United States had the fewest illegal border crossings in decades," Governor Abbott said in a statement. "It was because of four policies put in place by the Trump administration that led to such a low number of illegal crossings."

"President Biden has eliminated all of those policies and done nothing to halt illegal immigration. President Biden's deliberate inaction has left Texas to fend for itself," Abbott continued.

An increased number of journalists have began reporting from the U.S.-Mexico border as record-setting numbers of illegal immigrants continue to pour in.

Fox News' Bill Melugin showed the chaos of thousands of migrants, many wearing masks, lining up for processing in the Texas town.

"I’ve spent hundreds of days there over the last 2+ years and I’ve never seen it like this," the reporter stated.

Reporter Julio Rosas, also in Eagle Pass, noted the massive amounts of garbage left by the illegal migrants, which was composed mostly of discarded clothing.

"This is a small example of the many debris fields along the US side of the Rio Grande. Illegal immigrants dump their wet clothes and change into a new set after wading across the river," Rosas said on X.

Migrants are also taking time to take selfies after they cross into the United States.

"This was moments ago as a group of 500 crossed into Eagle Pass. The first thing they do is take a selfie or call back home and say they’re in the US," wrote journalist Auden Cabello.
