'He had guardian angels with him': Devoted friends find motorcyclist alive nearly 3 days after he veered off the road after stopping by McDonald's

A Tennessee motorcycle enthusiast is alive today thanks to devoted friends and family who persevered in their search for him after he went missing last weekend.

At around 10 a.m. last Sunday morning, Taylor Boyle, 27, of Knoxville, Tennessee, made plans to meet up with some friends. "He told our buddy he was grabbing McDonald's for breakfast and headed his way," said Boyle's friend Cameron Williams.

His friends became worried when Boyle never arrived. Then when no one had seen or heard from Boyle by Tuesday morning, the family filed a missing persons report with the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Meanwhile, they had already initiated several impromptu search parties of their own. Teams of friends, family, law enforcement, and strangers of good will had been scouring the area for days without any luck.

But they refused to give up, and their determination thankfully paid off. At approximately 11 p.m. Tuesday night, Boyle was found alive less than a mile from his home — in a spot groups had already searched earlier that day.

"When I looked down in there, I didn’t see him at first," said loyal friend Brandon Lawson. "And as I was panning out, I saw something sparkle — basically just saw the light reflect. And when I did, I looked back, and I just saw the Harley wheel."

Apparently, Boyle had been driving along on his blue Harley-Davidson when he suddenly veered off the road and fell 15 feet down an embankment, where he crashed into a tree. He then lay there hidden beneath brush and trees for nearly 60 hours before he was rescued. A McDonald's biscuit Boyle had purchased for one of his friends was located in his backpack.

"All I was worried about doing was just finding him," said yet another friend, Ryan French. "Anything and everything that we had to do, as long as it took. We just had to find him. I knew he was out there."

According to a Facebook post from his sister-in-law Nichole Rousseau, Boyle was able to move and talk to his rescuers, but he appeared confused. "He had guardian angels with him as he only thought he had been there for an hour camping with his dad," Rousseau wrote.

Rousseau added that Boyle was dehydrated and had suffered a concussion, a dislocated elbow, and "a small brain bleed that is not concerning to the doctors." He also likely has "a long road to recovery" ahead of him, but his family is just grateful to have him back again.

"Ultimately, Taylor was located by the grace of God and true friends," she said.
