Allison Gollust lashes out at CNN after resigning over inappropriate relationship with Jeff Zucker

Allison Gollust lashed out at CNN after she resigned over the conclusion of an investigation into her actions related to Chris Cuomo offering advice to his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Gollust's inappropriate romantic relationship with Jeff Zucker was discovered during the investigation into the claims against Chris Cuomo. Both he and Zucker left CNN over the scandals.

On Tuesday, CNN said in a statement that Gollust had resigned.

"Based on interviews of more than 40 individuals and a review of over 100,000 texts and emails, the investigation found violations of Company policies, including CNN's News Standards and Practices, by Jeff Zucker, Allison Gollust, and Chris Cuomo," wrote WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar in a memo to staffers.

"I realize this news is troubling, disappointing, and frankly, painful to read. These are valid feelings many of you have," Kilar added.

"We have the highest standards of journalistic integrity at CNN, and those rules must apply to everyone equally," Kilar continued. "Given the information provided to me in the investigation, I strongly believe we have taken the right actions and the right decisions have been made."

Gollust accused the network of retaliation in her own statement released soon after.

"WarnerMedia's statement tonight is an attempt to retaliate against me and change the media narrative in the wake of their disastrous handling of the last two weeks," said Gollust.

"It is deeply disappointing that after spending the past nine years defending and upholding CNN's highest standards of journalistic integrity, I would be treated this way as I leave," Gollust adds. "But I do so with my head held high, knowing that I gave my heart and soul to working with the finest journalists in the world."

Zucker initially said that he and Gollust had begun their relationship in the past few years, but insiders later contradicted that claim and said that he and his assistant had become romantically entangled decades before.
