Florida man brutally beat to death his 4-year-old daughter, according to police: 'No remorse. No emotion, nothing'

Florida police arrested a man for allegedly beating to death his 4-year-old daughter while her mother worked away from their home.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that 22-year-old Jacob Kubai of Bartow brought his daughter Willow to the Bartow Regional Medical Center after reportedly finding her unresponsive on the night of Feb. 22.

Hospital workers called police after detecting no brain activity in the child and "suspicious physical injuries," according to Grady. The toddler was flown to another hospital where doctors determined she had numerous serious injuries, including a broken skull, multiple impact bruises to the forehead, and 10 fractured ribs.

She also suffered from a hemorrhage in her spine and multiple layers of brain bleeds.

“The baby fought for life and lived two more days until she died," Judd said.

When the man was interviewed, he said that he had dropped off his wife at work at about 5 p.m. that evening. He said that he had gone to Walmart to pick up chicken broth when he realized he was missing the ingredient for dinner.

He claimed that he checked in on the child every 10 minutes before realizing she was unresponsive at 8:10 p.m. and performed CPR on her.

Judd said that detectives were able to obtain video of Kubai at Walmart and found that he went inside alone without his daughter. At one point, he looked directly at the camera in the store.

He said the investigation is ongoing and they are trying to determine if Kubai killed the child before or after going to Walmart.

Kubai was arrested on Tuesday and charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child, aggravated child abuse, and knowingly abusing a child without bodily harm.

"He shed not one tear and yet he has literally beaten and squeezed his baby to death," said Judd. "No remorse. No emotion, nothing,"

An autopsy report determined that the child had died from "blunt force trauma of the head."

"He’s one that I wonder why God allows him to breathe air," Judd concluded. "I don’t know how a father could do this to his child, but I do know he should be locked up for as long as the law allows."

Grady said that the child's nickname had been "Strawberry."
