Elon Musk agrees to train with UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre ahead of potential Mark Zuckerberg fight

Twitter owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk appeared to accept an offer to train with UFC legend Georges "Rush" St-Pierre after the former champion offered his services to help Musk prepare for a fight with Meta/Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

"[Elon Musk,] I'm a huge fan of yours and it would be an absolute honor to help you and be your training partner for the challenge against Zuckerberg," St-Pierre wrote on Twitter.

"Ok, let’s do it," Musk replied with two quintessential fire emojis.

Gambling odds have been rolling in since Musk and Zuckerberg agreed to fight in a UFC octagon for what would likely be a mixed-martial arts bout in Las Vegas. UFC President Dana White remarked that both parties told him over the phone that they are "absolutely deadly serious" and that he believes it could be the most-watched fight of all time.

"The biggest fight of all time was Floyd [Mayweather] and Conor [McGregor], I just think it triples that — it triples what that did, there's no limit on what that thing can make," White claimed.

Musk also noted that he had been practicing with podcast host and MIT scientist Lex Fridman. Fridman earned a first-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu in April 2023.

St-Pierre is universally considered one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time and finished his career with 26 wins and just two losses. The Canadian retired on a 12-fight win streak as the UFC Welterweight Champion in 2013 before coming out of retirement to win the middleweight title in 2017.

The Montreal native was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in September 2021 as well.

Musk reportedly told the UFC boss that he has martial arts experience and that he was involved in "plenty of fights growing up in South Africa." The Twitter owner is on record telling comedian Joe Rogan in 2020 that he has experience in taekwondo, karate, and judo.

Zuckerberg famously won gold and silver medals in jiu-jitsu tournaments in Silicon Valley in May 2023 and has been obsessed with the sport since 2021.

According to Business Insider, early odds from gambling site DraftKings had Zuckerberg as a -160 favorite, meaning if you bet $160 on Zuckerberg you win $100. However, popular betting site Bovada had Musk as the favorite at a -150 line.

No potential date for the fight has been set.
