Danica Patrick refuses to apologize to outrage mob after attending conservative event: 'All I said was I love this country'

Danica Patrick refuses to apologize for recently attending a conservative conference.

In mid-December, the former NASCAR and IndyCar driver attended Turning Point USA's AmericaFest conference with her sister, cataloging her experience on Instagram. She posted photos of pro-Donald Trump merchandise, products mocking woke culture, and videos of Tucker Carlson and Dr. Ben Carson.

Patrick didn't post anything polarizing and didn't offer any explicit political endorsements. In fact, all she said was that she and her sister "love our country."

Unfortunately, it didn't take long for the hate to pour in.

People who commented on Patrick's post declared they "lost all respect" for Patrick and said her attendance at the event was "super disappointing." One commenter claimed to be "horrified" and "speechless" over the photos. Other commenters bashed Patrick for being "MAGA" but thanked her for posting the photos so they could unfollow her. Many other outraged commenters claimed Patrick cannot love her country by being a conservative.

Patrick addressed the outrage last Friday, condemning people for "losing" their "damn minds" over the photos. Importantly, she did not bend her knee or apologize.

"I am not a liberal. I am somewhere between Republican and independent. I think our country should be run by someone that knows business and has integrity. I believe we should be able to speak freely. I don't think our food and skies should be poisoned. I think it’s bulls*** that Democrats can be proud but a Republican can’t in society," Patrick said.

"As a result, there is so much propaganda that penetrates mainstream media. I love this country and I have lived other places. I believe when people of different opinions speak face to face we realize we are more similar than different. I don't believe everything anyone says," she continued.

Patrick explained that she has been "very torn" over whether to speak publicly about politics and noted how the reaction to her photos was telling.

"All I said was I love this country," she observed.

After retiring from racing, Patrick launched a podcast and has served as a motorsports commentator for NASCAR, IndyCar, and Formula One.
