Church service complains about 'sexual noises' nearby as prostitution in San Diego lingers

There were reportedly "sexual noises" emanating from a massage parlor in San Diego that disrupted church services and ultimately motivated the authorities to launch a sting operation.

The investigation revealed a sex-for-play operation, according to Fox News Digital.

Police Chief Nisleit said "[t]he San Diego Police Department takes neighborhood complaints of this nature very seriously."

"Our Vice Unit’s thorough investigation into the operation at businesses just like Ocean Spa bring peace and civility back to San Diego neighborhoods. We are grateful for the collaboration with the City Attorney to eliminate this type of criminal conduct in our communities."

The authorities heard from several neighboring businesses that the massage parlor was disruptive. Complaints included a church complaining about "sexual noises" and other locals claiming that people could be seen having sex in cars, according to the report.

A youth Bible study was previously located right next to the parlor, according to a separate report by KFMB.

The San Diego police reported: "Neighboring businesses complained the site was the source of foot traffic at odd hours, people having intercourse in parked cars and sexual noises loud enough to disrupt a nearby church service."

"After receiving numerous community complaints regarding illicit sexual activities at Ocean Spa, including criminal, nuisance and lewd activities, SDPD’s Vice Unit began an extensive and thorough investigation into these complaints," the police added.

The authorities reportedly spent 125 hours last year investigating the massage parlor. There were at least four instances where undercover police officers were offered sex by employees, per Fox News Digital.

The authorities also uncovered more than 1,270 online ads for sex at the parlor over the past five years.

Four people have been arrested for prostitution at the parlor, and the city is currently requesting that legal action be taken to shut the parlor down. Additionally, the City Attorney's Office is seeking more than $100,000 in civil penalties, attorney fees, and other law enforcement costs.

City Attorney Mara Elliott said "[t]he owners of Ocean Spa have been masquerading as a legitimate business for far too long."

"Ocean Spa is a sex shop – not a massage parlor – and it has no place in our community or anywhere else. We look forward to holding these perpetrators accountable and to restoring peace in this complex."
