Biden admin touts federal student loan cancellation plan by sharing messages from people who say the policy will help them afford to buy a house

The Biden administration, which plans to cancel massive amounts of federal student loan debt, is sharing messages from people who have said that the policy will help them to afford to purchase a house.

"Take a look at this message I received – because of student loan forgiveness, Americans will be able to crawl out from under unsustainable debt and finally start thinking about saving for their first home," a tweet on the @POTUS Twitter account stated.

The tweet included an image of a message that said, "Thank you Mr. President. At 51 years old, my husband and I can finally start saving for our first home."

Another tweet from the @POTUS account featured a message that declared, "It means I can more easily afford and qualify to finally buy a home." The message noted, "It lowers our stress. It will restore some breathing room in our budget."

Another message said, "Now I can pay off the remainder of my debt this year and begin to save for a house and start a family."

The Biden administration's plan would provide $10,000 of federal student loan debt cancellation to individual's earning less than $125,000 per year, and $20,000 of debt cancellation to those who received Pell Grants and earn less than $125,000 per year — married couples and heads of households would qualify if they earn less than $250,000 per year.

The plan would do absolutely nothing to benefit numerous hard-working Americans who opted not to attend college or who have already paid off their federal student loan debt.

"What about the 300+ million other Americans who will suffer from the additional inflation you will cause from this illegal and immoral giveaway? Please share the number where they can text you," GOP Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky tweeted in response to one of Biden's posts.

"Now do a message from one of the thousands of American families who lost a loved one to the drugs you've allowed to freely flood through our border," tweeted Stephen Miller, who served as senior adviser to President Donald Trump during Trump's tenure in office.

"Nakedly buying votes before an election with an unconstitutional debt forgiveness scheme," tweeted Jon Miltimore, managing editor of FEE.org.
