Beyoncé reportedly walks out on Reebok collaboration meeting because the creative team wasn't diversive enough

'Is this the team that will be working on my product?'

Entertainer Beyoncé Knowles reportedly left a creative meeting with Reebok over the brand's lack of diversity on the team.

According to ESPN writer Nick DePaula, Knowles spoke with several athletic wear labels over the last year to discuss a potential partnership.

"Throughout this process over the last year or two, she had discussed with Under Armour, with Reebok as well, Jordan [at Nike] at one point was interested in maybe partnering with her," DePaula said.

"She had a meeting at Reebok and they had a whole presentation of everything, potential products, how this could all look, and she kind of took a step back and said, 'Is this the team that will be working on my product?'" DePaula said.

When someone on the team answered in the affirmative, Knowles reportedly responded, "Nobody in this room reflects my background, my skin color, and where I'm from and what I want to do."

She reportedly turned around and walked out the door.

"[S]he took a step back and left, and then it did not come to terms," DePaula added. "For her, it really goes beyond that. It's not just about putting her name on a shoe and 'Here's the new Adidas Beyoncé 1' or whatever they end up calling it. It's about having an imprint on the company and an impact in terms of diversity."

TMZ reported on Thursday that Knowles signed a deal with Adidas, which was announced earlier in the week.

In a news release, Knowles called the partnership one in a lifetime.

"Adidas has had tremendous success in pushing creative boundaries," Knowles' statement read. "We share a philosophy that puts creativity, growth, and social responsibility at the forefront of business. I look forward to re-launching and expanding my Ivy Park [brand line] on a truly global scale with a proven, dynamic leader."

TMZ reported that Knowles is also a creative partner on the campaign.
