Sen. Ben Sasse shreds pro-abortion extremism, slams Democratic presidential candidates for supporting Planned Parenthood

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) expressed his disgust on Thursday with pro-abortion rhetoric coming from Democrats.

What did he say?

In an impassioned speech, Sasse took to the floor of the Senate and blasted the abortion industry.

He also slammed pro-abortion Democratic presidential candidates for supporting Planned Parenthood, and particularly those lawmakers who would be appearing at a weekend Planned Parenthood forum in South Carolina.

"The position of every senator running for the Democratic nomination, and at least one governor, is that a living, breathing baby who survives an abortion procedure can be left to die after birth," he said. "All seven senators running for the Democratic presidential nomination voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act earlier this year."

It's possible, he added, that the Democratic presidential nominee will "be publicly agnostic about the moral status of post-abortion infanticide."

"As Democrats' abortion positions have become more extreme, they have not sought to even persuade fellow citizens with whom they disagree," the conservative lawmaker insisted. "Rather, they have become openly hostile to Americans who disagree on this great moral challenge."

He added, "Today, the radical things that the nation's largest abortion business wants are basically indistinguishable from the position of almost every Democrat running for president: Abortion — anytime, anywhere, for any reason, for free."

What else?

Sasse also blasted Planned Parenthood's origins and pointed the finger at its controversial founder, Margaret Sanger — a proponent of eugenics.

"We could also note that it's in part because of this ugly history that black women in America are three and a half times more likely to have an abortion than white women," he said. "Or we could point to the continued eugenic use of abortion.

"For example, to kill children who have non-life-threatening diseases. In the United States today, two-thirds of all babies in the womb who are found to have Down syndrome are aborted. Two-thirds of all babies found to have Down syndrome in the U.S. are now aborted."
