VIDEO: Woman survived on lollipops and wine for nearly five days after getting lost in Australian bushland

Dramatic video showed the moment that rescuers in Australia were able to find a woman who had been lost for several days in the bushland and had survived only on wine and lollipops.

Police were searching by helicopter in the dense bushland when they were able to find the 48-year-old woman identified only as Lillian.

She was expected by her family to visit, and when she didn't arrive, they filed a missing persons report with the police on April 30.

The video shows her waving at the helicopter and later a police van arriving to rescue Lillian.

She told police that she realized she had made a wrong turn when she drove into a dead end on a dirt road. When she tried to backtrack, her car got stuck in the mud and she had no cellphone coverage.

“Lillian was found a good 60km away from the nearest town and due to health issues she was unable to try and walk for help so stayed with her car,” said Wodonga Police Station Sergeant Martin Torpey.

“She used great common sense to stay with her car and not wander off into bushland, which assisted in police being able to find her," Torpey added. “She was only planning a short-day trip so had only taken a couple of snacks and lollies with her but no water."

The woman only had wine that she had brought as a gift for her mother, according to Torpey, who added that Lillian didn't normally drink alcohol. She was also able to use the heater in the car to provide warmth overnight.

The temperature low in that area was 36 degrees, according to CBS News.

She was hospitalized and treated for dehydration.

"She was extremely relieved and grateful to see us and we were just as happy to see her," Torpey added.
