AOC says 'I'm over it' on impeachment before process even begins

Democrats haven't held even a procedural vote on impeachment yet, and one of the most vocal impeachment advocates is already apparently bored with it, according to the Washington Examiner.

Even though it's unclear whether there are enough votes in the House to impeach, and there's essentially no chance that the Senate would vote to convict and remove President Donald Trump from office, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y) is ready to move on to bigger things.

"I think the whole thing is boring," Ocasio-Cortez said Thursday. "He should have been impeached a long time ago. I'm over it. And so that's how I feel about it because we've got work to do."

That's not to say Ocasio-Cortez doesn't still support impeachment, but to her, it won't have the long-term impact Democrats need to pursue.

"Impeachment of this president is the short-term action we need to preserve our democracy," Ocasio-Cortez said. "But if we are really going to thrive as a country, we need to make long-term investments and keep our eyes on the prize of social and economic and racial justice in the United States of America. And that's what this is all about."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced her support of an impeachment inquiry on Sept. 24, after resisting calls for impeachment from Ocasio-Cortez and other progressive Democrats for months.

President Trump does not seem to fear potential impeachment. Thursday, he publicly said China should begin investigating Joe and Hunter Biden for their foreign business activities — even though that type of request to Ukraine is what Democrats have focused impeachment inquiries on.

"And, by the way ... China should start an investigation into the Bidens, because what happened in China is just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine," Trump said Thursday.
