Hollywood superstar Anne Hathaway claims abortion is 'another word for mercy'

Hollywood superstar Anne Hathaway claimed Tuesday that abortion is a synonym for "mercy."

Wait, are you serious?

Known for her major roles in movies like "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Les Misérables," Hathaway bemoaned the Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.

"Without going into too many details, my own personal experience with abortion, and I don’t think we talk about this enough, abortion can be another word for mercy," Hathaway claimed in an interview on "The View."

"When you allow for choice, you allow for flexibility, which is what we need in order to be human," she later added. "It's not set in stone; just because you get pregnant doesn't mean you get to keep that baby."

Her comments were prompted by Joy Behar, who asked about an Instagram post Hathway published after Roe was overturned. In that post, Hathaway promised to "fight" for abortion rights. Hathaway said she posted that to show solidarity with those who are in the "fight" every day.

"We’re in the fight. We’re in the fight every day. We’re in the fight every minute," she said, referring to abortion rights.

"I think about it all the time," she added, "and what its implications are and what it means to live in a country that puts us [women] in this position — again."

According to Hathaway, abortion is not an issue of morality.

"By the way, this is not a moral conversation about abortion," she claimed. "This is a practical conversation about women’s rights and, by the way, human rights because women’s rights are human rights, and the freedom that we all need to be able to choose and build our lives and have access to excellent health care."

Mercy — but for whom?

While Hathaway claims that abortion is a "mercy" for women who do not want their unborn child, where is the mercy for the unborn child?
