32-year-old woman pretends to be teen at 3 different high schools, her allegedly fake father claimed she was bullied

A woman who pretended to be a high school student in Boston was actually 32 years old and was caught after attempting to change to a fourth school, the New York Post reported.

The unnamed woman was caught in what a superintendent called “a case of extremely sophisticated fraud," after a man claiming to be her father told school administrators at English High School that he was withdrawing his alleged daughter due to bullying and would enroll her at St. Columbkille School.

Considering the girl had enrolled at English High School just a week prior, the school assumed there was a custody battle happening between parents, a police report revealed, according to the Boston Herald.

It was later revealed that the woman used fake names to enroll at Boston's Jeremiah E. Burke High School and Brighton High School during the 2022-23 school year.

“I am deeply troubled that an adult would breach the trust of our school communities by posing as a student. This appears to be a case of extremely sophisticated fraud,” district Superintendent Mary Skipper said in a statement, according to MassLive.

Moreover, Boston outlet WCVB 5 reported that the woman was also working as a social worker for the Department of Children and Families until February 2023.

"We do not have any evidence at this moment of any harm or risk to the young people, thank goodness," Boston Mayor Michelle Wu told reporters.

“She definitely didn’t look 32,” an English High School student familiar with the woman told the outlet. "I wouldn't have thought she was 32, but ... dang, she was 32?!" he added.

An adult posing as a student has become increasingly common in recent years. In January 2023, a 29-year-old woman pretended to be a high school student for four days in New Jersey. The woman attended classes and obtained the phone numbers of several teenagers. She also allegedly tried to get some students to meet her off school grounds.

A 28-year-old woman in Miami-Dade County, Florida, was accused of pretending to be a high school student to promote her Instagram in 2021. The woman's account allegedly stated that she was trying to make a point about the lack of safety precautions in schools.

Investigation into the Boston school fraud is ongoing.
