Bruce Springsteen predicts Trump will win again in 2020: 'I don’t see anyone who can beat him'

Rocker and liberal Bruce Springsteen has some bad news for his fellow Democrats: He thinks Trump is on track to win in 2020. A tough pill to swallow that he didn't sugarcoat in an interview with The Sunday Times this week.

"The president has a flair for winning over working-class voters that the Democrats can’t rival, the singer admits. In short, Trump was born to run, and may be unstoppable," reads the opening paragraph of the article.

Springsteen's argument is basically exactly that.

“I don’t see anyone out there at the moment … the man who can beat Trump, or the woman who can beat Trump,” he said. “You need someone who can speak some of the same language [as Trump] … and the Democrats don’t have an obvious, effective presidential candidate.”

Springsteen argued that Trump speaks to working class voters in a way that Democrats do not. There are a lot of reasons people "became Trump voters', he said, including the "severe blow to working people in the 1970s and 1980s as all the steel mills shut down".

"Add to that, someone comes in and plays on your racial anxieties, and blames an enormous amount of this on the 'other' from the southern side of the border, and you're going to have an audience for those views," Springsteen added.

He's no fan of Trump, though, whom he said recently "has no interest in uniting the country and actually has an interest in doing the opposite and dividing us," and that he is "trying to disenfranchise a large portion of America."
