Man waves pro-police flag outside Arkansas Nike store. They respond by calling law enforcement.

Arkansas resident Jimmie Cavin is an ardent supporter of law enforcement and first responders. But he unfortunately found himself on the wrong side of police last week after he had law enforcement called on him for protesting in support of police.

What happened?

Last Thursday, Cavin posted up outside a Nike store at a mall in west Little Rock. He sat on the tailgate of his truck and waved a black flag adorned with a blue strip, a universal pro-police symbol.

"My priority is supporting law enforcement, firefighters and paramedics," Cavin told KLRT-TV.

He explained that about 15 minutes into his protest, a Little Rock police officer approached him. The officer was reportedly called in response to a "disturbance," despite the fact that he didn't approach or talk to a single shopper.

According to a police report, a store manager at the Nike store phoned police.

"So, Nike called the police on the guy supporting the police for supporting the police," Cavin explained.

Despite disagreeing with NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who initiated the national anthem demonstrations two years ago to bring attention to police brutality in the U.S., Cavin told KLRT he supports Kaepernick's right to protest.

Cavin's protest came more than a week after Nike announced Kaepernick would be the face of its new advertising campaign. According to KLRT, Cavin has posted up in different spots across Arkansas over the years to wave flags in support of law enforcement and first responders.
