NFL player fires back at President Trump over national anthem protests

A New Orleans Saints NFL football player took to his social media account to criticize President Donald Trump over his latest comments about the controversy over national anthem protests.

Here's what he said

Cameron Jordan took exception to a tweet the president posted Friday blasting the NFL players who chose to protest during the national anthem in the first preseason games Thursday.

"Guy who won the presidential election... how about we get a statement on the “unite the right” rally 2 being held in DC this weekend... a yr after the first one in Charlottesville???" he asked rhetorically.

Jordan was referring to a demonstration by alt-right members on the one year anniversary of their protest in Charlottesville where a left-wing counter-protester was hit by a car and killed.

"Only way to say it. What a Goober," he added. "He is who I thought he was. Guy is 70+ yr old acting out in what was once the highest respected political position, as a overly insecure prepubescent child..."

"He won’t govern himself, give him a mentor? Right, members of his cabinet left on their own accord or were dismissed accordingly... But what do I know I’m just a guy who should stick to football," he concluded.

Jordan also took a swipe at a fan who said that he was thinking about canceling his season tickets over the protests.

"Promise? Where ya seats at?" he responded.

"If they are any good I’ll buy em off you and donate ‘em to the boys and girls club SELA or YEP (youth empowerment project)," he added.

Jordan was nominated for the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year award for his philanthropic and community work. He supports many charitable organizations including literacy programs and has toured with the USO in support of the military.
