Eric Trump says white powder was mailed to all of his family members

Eric Trump, President Donald Trump’s son, said Thursday that all members of his family have had white powder mailed to their homes.

“We’ve all had white powder show up at our house,” Trump, 34, told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

“And by the way, there’s no moral outrage about that,” he added.

What's the background?

Over the past several months, Trump family members have endured multiple alleged anthrax threats. In February, Donald Trump Jr.’s wife, Vanessa Trump, opened an envelope containing white power. The envelope also reportedly contained a note that read "you are getting what you deserve." She was taken to a hospital as a precaution, but the substance was later found to be harmless.

A 24-year-old Massachusetts man was charged with five counts of mailing a threat to injure a person and five counts of mailing a hoax threat. He also allegedly sent letters to other high-profile people.

During the 2016 campaign, similar white powder threats were aimed at Trump Tower. The powder was also not harmful. Meanwhile, the liberal media showed no outrage over the threats, Trump noted.

“You have them attacking Barron, you have them attacking Tiffany, you have them attacking our entire family,” Trump said. "You have them out there spewing garbage every single day on CNN and all these other networks, about my father, right? Covering nonsense while forgetting about the fact that our economy grew at 4.1 percent, that we have the lowest unemployment in history, that jobs are coming back to the country, that the stock markets at record high, they forget all about that.”

Instead, the media spews “nonsense all day,” Trump said.

What are his thoughts about the midterm elections?

Asked about the upcoming midterm elections, Trump said, “Well, listen. I think we’re going to do very, very well. And I think this country, by every quantifiable measure, is doing better today that it has ever done before. People are seeing that. And I think — listen — you started the opening monologue with the fact that he’s above 50 percent in the polls, right now. His highest ever.”

He also said the Democrats “have nothing to run on. They have no leadership. They have no message. They don’t stand for anything. He’s doing well by every quantifiable measure. So the only thing that they can do is, so he’s a racist, he’s a sexist, he’s a this, he’s a that, right? The same sound bite that they’ve used for the last three years. It hasn’t changed. It hasn’t worked at all.”
