Melania Trump spox: Secret Service notified over Peter Fonda's nasty tweet about Barron Trump

First lady Melania Trump's spokesperson says the Secret Service has been contacted over actor Peter Fonda's call for Barron Trump to be taken away from his parents.

What's the background?

On Wednesday, Fonda went on an explicit, expletive-laden rant against the Trumps, suggesting that Barron should be removed from his family home and put into a cage with pedophiles.

Fonda apparently made the remarks with regard to the migrant children crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

On Twitter, Fonda wrote, "We should rip Barron Trump from his mother’s arms and put him in a cage with pedophiles and see if mother will stand up against the giant a**hole she is married to. 90 million people in the streets on the same weekend in the country. F***.”

The tweet has since been removed, but not before it sparked major outrage from conservatives and liberals alike.

Fonda also suggested that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents' children be targeted for intimidation, and said that Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen should be put in a cage and publicly whipped.

Secret Service notified in response to Fonda's remark

According to the Daily Caller, Stephanie Grisham, a spokesperson for the first lady, said that the Secret Service had been notified of Fonda's inflammatory Twitter remark.

Grisham told the outlet, “The tweet is sick and irresponsible and USSS has been notified.”

On Melania's behalf, Grisham earlier issued a statement condemning the severity of the children migrant crisis.

On Sunday, she said, "Mrs. Trump hates to see children separated from their families and hopes both sides of the aisle can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform. She believes we need to be a country that follows all laws, but also a country that governs with heart.”
