Giuliani reveals what Trump will do about Jeff Sessions - and when

Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and legal counsel to President Trump, revealed what action the president will take about Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and when he'll do it.

Here's what Giuliani said

The president's lawyer responded to questions about whether Trump was thinking about firing Sessions Wednesday.

“There’s no doubt he’s complained about him," Giuliani affirmed, "there’s no doubt he has some grievances."

“He’s not going to fire him before this is over," he added. "Nor do I think he should.”

The president has been intermittently criticizing the attorney general because he recused himself from the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into Russian election interference and alleged collusion.

“You get angry and the day after you remember all the good things the person did for you,” Giuliani added. “He goes back and forth on Jeff. On immigration, Jeff’s done a good job.”

“I’ve advised him from the very beginning, as a friend, not even as a lawyer," he explained, "why would you put up a red herring?"

On Wednesday, Trump targeted Sessions again from his social media account by quoting Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) and adding that he regretted choosing the former Senator for attorney general.

"I think what the President is doing is expressing frustration that Attorney General Sessions should have shared these reasons for recusal before he took the job, not afterward," Trump wrote, quoting Gowdy.

"There are lots of really good lawyers in the country, he could have picked somebody else!” Gowdy said, as quoted by Trump. "And I wish I did!" the president added.

Gowdy also made headlines Tuesday when he opined that the FBI acted appropriately during their investigation into the Trump campaign. The president and his allies have been alleging that the Obama administration was inappropriately using the investigatory power of the Department of Justice in order to damage the Trump campaign in 2016.

"I am even more convinced that the FBI exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got, and that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump,” he said.
