Man Spotted Scaling Trump Tower in Manhattan Using Suction Cups

UPDATE 6:45 p.m. ET:

After approximately two hours of climbing the Trump Tower, the New York Police Department was able to successfully yank the stuntman, known as Steve, into the skyscraper from a window the officers had removed.

Original story continues below.

Spider-Man might not be real, but one man was spotted clambering up Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan Wednesday afternoon using suction cups to make his way to the top.

The man, reportedly known as "Steve from Virginia," was first seen standing on a lower level roof garden, according to a witness who spoke to ABC News. Moments later, he began scaling Donald Trump's expansive building, using a device made of five suction cups to hoist himself up.

As for why he's climbing the tower, the stuntman says he wants to get Trump's attention with the move, according to The Daily Beast. He plans to climb all the way to the top of the skyscraper.

Police promptly made their way to the scene, where they tried to talk to the climber as law enforcement officials gathered on the roof garden, which is open to the public, beneath him.

All of this is happening while the Republican nominee for president is out of town. Trump, a New York native, is hosting a campaign rally in Abingdon, Virginia.
