President Barack Obama took time Monday to meet with the Washington Post reporter who was jailed in Iran for a year and a half.

Jason Rezaian, who was held in captivity in Iran for more than 500 days, had a meeting with the president after Obama addressed the State Department Chief of Missions conference.
The White House did not release details of the conversation.
Rezaian, who was released in January as part of a mutual release of prisoners from Iranian and U.S. prisons, was among other Americans still held captive last year when the United States and allies entered into a nuclear deal with Iran.
The Iranian government accused the reporter of being a spy, which the Post strongly denied. The Post's foreign editor, Douglas Jehl, in November called Rezaian’s imprisonment “an injustice” and his trial and sentence “a sham.”
