Evangelist Franklin Graham Doubles Down on Shocking Proposal About Muslim Immigration

"I don't care..."

Evangelist Franklin Graham refused to back down from his proposal earlier this summer that the United States "stop all immigration of Muslims to the U.S." until ongoing terror threats subside, defending that stance in an interview with The Church Boys podcast this week.

"By letting Muslims come into this country at this time [there's] the potential for some of these people to turn on this nation for our kindness and our gratitude and commit murder," Graham said in an interview that was conducted at TheBlaze's New York City newsroom on Wednesday. "And it's not just the murder of just one or two, but it could be a large event that could take the lives of many people."

As for critics who spoke out against his proposal that Muslims be precluded from immigrating to America, Graham — who was in town to discuss his father Billy Graham's new book, "Where I Am: Heaven, Eternity, and Our Life Beyond," — was unfazed, saying that he's spent time overseas and understands the "dangers and the teaching" that come from some mosques.

"I don't care, because what I said was true," he told The Church Boys podcast, while dismissing his critics. "I'm thinking of my children, my grandchildren. I'm thinking of Americans who live everyday lives who don't understand."

As for assistance that he believes should be given to Middle Eastern refugees who are fleeing violence overseas, Graham said that he thinks that it is most appropriate to only allow in members of minority groups like " the Christians and the Yazidis."

"They're the ones being persecuted by Islam," he said.

As TheBlaze previously reported, Graham detailed his immigration views in a July Facebook post.

“We are under attack by Muslims at home and abroad. We should stop all immigration of Muslims to the U.S. until this threat with Islam has been settled,” he wrote. “Every Muslim that comes into this country has the potential to be radicalized — and they do their killing to honor their religion and Muhammad.”

Listen to a discussion of Franklin Graham's comments and this interview from Saturday's episode of "Pure Opelka" on TheBlaze Radio.

The Church Boys podcast will air portions of Graham's interview on the next episode of the show this upcoming Sunday, including a wide-ranging discussion about Billy Graham's legacy and his final book, "Where I Am: Heaven, Eternity, and Our Life Beyond."
