As U.S. lawmakers debate whether or not to approve the Iran nuclear deal spearheaded by President Barack Obama, Iran’s supreme leader warned Monday that the agreement could be rejected by Iran.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei - who referred to the U.S. as the “enemy” – also asserted that that nuclear agreement would not allow the U.S. to gain a foothold in Iran.
“They thought this deal - and it is not clear if it will be passed in Iran or in America - will open up Iran to their influence,” Khamenei said according to Reuters, quoting his official website.

Khamenei’s office followed up with this tweet to drive home the point:
By #IranDeal whose approval is of question either here or there, they intended to find a way to infiltrate into the country. We shut this way.

According to Iran’s Press TV, Khamenei warned that the U.S. aimed to use the nuclear agreement in order to infiltrate Iran.
“We should first identify the enemy’s intentions and then counter their objectives through planning,” said Khamenei, who continues to use the pejorative language “Great Satan” to refer to the U.S.
