A new post-debate CNN/ORC poll released Wednesday shows Trump nab the top spot in Iowa, followed in second place by retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.

The poll, which surveyed likely Republican Iowa caucus goers, had Trump firmly in the number one slot with 22 percent of the vote. Carson followed with 14 percent.

In third was Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker with nine percent of the vote, barely besting Texas Sen. Ted Cruz with eight percent.

Following in fifth place was former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina who most pundits say clearly won last week's debate.

Huckabee, Bush, Paul, Rubio and Christie filed out the remaining slots in the top 10.

The poll had a sampling error of plus or minus four points, according to CNN. It was conducted by telephone by ORC International on August 7-11.
