This Is Crazy!': Hecklers Take Turns Interrupting Joel Osteen During Church Service

"... I looked at my wife and she was nervous and we just decided we have to get out of here."

Six hecklers were reportedly escorted from Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in Houston Sunday morning, KTRK-TV reported.

"Thank you all for your patience and we'll just continue to receive what God has for us," Osteen said amid the scene. "It's a good day to be alive."

Sportswriter Anwar Richardson was visiting the church and tweeted about what he saw.

"And the moment he started to preach, somebody gets up and they yell, 'Joel Osteen you're a liar,'" Richardson told KTRK.

The station reported that the heckling was a coordinated effort by people from another church who apparently took turns interrupting the service.

"After the sixth time that it occurred, my son was sleeping in my lap, and I looked at my wife and she was nervous and we just decided we have to get out of here," Richardson said.

At the forefront of his mind was the recent church massacre in Charleston, South Carolina.

"All I could think of is you don't know what's going on, and I just can't wait to find out, so I gotta get out of there," he told KTRK.

The hecklers were with The Church of Wells, Lakewood Church spokesman Donald Iloff Jr. told the station, adding that they were asked to leave — and when they refused, they were escorted out.

All six were charged with criminal trespass, KTRK reported, citing Houston police.
