Gay People Are Just Outright Bullies': Pastor's 'Jesus Would Stone Homos' Sign Vandalized

A controversial sign at a Harlem, N.Y., church proclaiming that "Jesus would stone homos" has been vandalized.

A male suspect spray-painted "God is Gay" on both sides of the billboard outside ATLAH World Missionary Church over the weekend. The culprit also purportedly removed the letters comprising the original anti-gay message.

Surveillance footage shows a male suspect engaged in these crimes around 12:24 a.m. Saturday morning, the Christian Post reported.

Pastor James David Manning, known for his contentious views on gays and lesbians, lashed out at the individual responsible for the vandalism.

"Gay people are just outright bullies," he told the New York Daily News. "I expected them to act in a very violent way."

As TheBlaze previously reported, the sign outside the church reads: “Jesus Would Stone Homos. … Stoning Is Still The Law,” along with several Bible verses. Manning told the Christian Post earlier this month that the message is meant to dispel “flat-out lies” coming from gay activists.

“They have been spreading lies about what Jesus would do regarding homosexuality; whether Jesus ever addressed homosexuality, and what the Bible, in general, has to say about homosexuality,” Manning said at the time. “So we thought we’d say what Jesus would do.”

The Daily News reported that the New York Police Department is investigating the vandalism as a hate crime -- a move Manning praised, as he believes it was motivated by "pure and simple hate."

The “Jesus Would Stone Homos” sign follows a controversial message that Manning posted last month about President Barack Obama. It read: “Obama has released the homo demons on the black man. Look out black woman. A white homo may take your man.”

Manning also made headlines last summer for telling his mostly black congregation to stop viewing the world through their “black eyes” and start looking at it through the “blood of Jesus.”

He made these comments in an effort to publicly defend the “not guilty” verdict in the George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin case.
