Airport officials said a ground crew assigned to the South African Airways jet found the body at 1:30 p.m. in the landing-gear wheel well; the Airbus A340 was sitting in a remote parking area at the airport just outside Washington, D.C.

Tlali Tlali, a spokesperson for South African Airways, said Flight SA 207 landed at Dulles on Wednesday from Johannesburg and made one stop in Dakar, Senegal.

The body hasn't been identified and was turned over to the Fairfax County Medical Examiner. The investigation is ongoing.

Officials say airport operations were not impacted.
