GOP Rep.: I Give the New York Times Benghazi Report an 'F or a U

"...it's totally unsatisfactory and it's false."

Rep. Lynn Westmoreland gave The New York Times' blockbuster weekend Benghazi report an "F" or "U" grade Monday.

The Georgia Republican's comments came in response to an interview question about the controversial report, which held that the deadly 2012 assault was not the work of Al Qaeda, as has been asserted.

"What sort of grade would you give the New York Times for this report?" Fox News host Steve Doocy asked.

"Well, I'm assuming you just have to give them an 'F' or a 'U' — or however you want to grade them, because it's totally unsatisfactory and it's false," Westmoreland said.

On Saturday, the Times published a report contending that there is “no evidence that Al Qaeda or other international terrorist groups had any role in the assault.”

Instead, the Times reported, the attack was led “by fighters who had benefited directly from NATO’s extensive air power and logistics support during the uprising against Colonel Qaddafi,” noting that it was “fueled in large part by anger at an American-made video denigrating Islam.”
