Former CIA Officer Buck Sexton Goes Off on Obama's 'Lack of Clarity, Character, and Principle in Foreign Policy

"Nobody who matters is listening to his droning, platitudinous, prompter-reading sessions."

TheBlaze's national security adviser Buck Sexton asserted Monday that "after a brief romance with the idea" of President Barack Obama, "nobody on the world stage even takes him seriously anymore."

"Nobody who matters is listening to his droning, platitudinous, prompter-reading sessions. His lack of clarity, character, and principle in foreign policy is blindingly obvious," Sexton said while guest hosting the Glenn Beck Program.

Sexton said there always has and always will be international conflict, but in recent years, "something is missing."

"The good guys, the cavalry, they're nowhere to be found," he said. "And I don't necessarily mean charging into every situation with ... tanks and planes, but in words and deeds on the world stage. In policies, pronouncements, and principles, America under this administration has gone M.I.A."

The result, he said, is that "our allies feel as though they must fend for themselves" and "our enemies know they can move with impunity up to a point, and they keep pushing that line with more cunning and brashness."

Sexton said that in most cases, there have only been perfunctory remarks by President Obama or White House Press Secretary Jay Carney on the issues of freedom and liberty.

"Whenever smarmy Jay Carney or Obama says, 'let me be clear,' you know they're about to make something up, lead you astray, obfuscate, change the subject, (or) tell you something that you know is untrue," Sexton said. "The only thing clear about this administration's foreign policy is that it's been a total disaster and has reduced the United States into a prompter-reading paper tiger."

But if no one is listening, Sexton asked, "who is the leader of the free world?" He said that based on the president's words and actions, he seems to scoff at the title and be "ashamed of the idea that America should lead the way."

While citizens in Ukraine are tearing down statues of Vladimir Lenin, Sexton said that based on the president's speeches about the evils of inequality, it sounds like he'd like to put some up.

"Let me be clear, Mr. President," Sexton said. "If you don't pick up the torch of liberty and sound the clarion call, tyranny will triumph. If you continue in your apathy with the decline of freedom, you'll have the distinct dishonor of being the first president in American history -- even among the most progressive presidents like FDR -- who didn't have the backbone to call evil by its name."

Sexton brought in fellow co-host of "Real News From theBlaze" Tara Setmayer to discuss the topic, and she said in an exasperated tone that the president's foreign policy is "like a Saturday Night Live skit."

"They've taken appeasement to another level," Setmayer remarked. "...In the real world, when you speak something, you better be ready to back it up."

"A lot of damage can be done in the remaining three years, God help us, of this administration," she warned, adding that "bad things have happened" with a void of international leadership in the past.
