Police were reportedly called to a Victoria's Secret store in Manhattan on Thursday after what appeared to be the body of a baby was found in a bag belonging to a teenage girl.

New York Police Department spokesman Sgt. Lee Jones told Business Insider that the two teens were initially detained for shoplifting.

Shortly after, officials made the gruesome discovery in a bag one of the girls was carrying.

"It was discovered that one of the females had what we believe to be a fetus," Jones said.

One of the teenagers is currently being evaluated at a hospital, Jones added. WABC-TV reports store security first approached the girls because they were acting suspiciously.
