MSNBC Anchor to Contributor: Your Kids 'Have Hit the American Trifecta of Privilege – They Are White, Straight Males\

Discussing the verdict in the George Zimmerman murder trial on "Morning Joe" Monday, MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts told a contributor that his kids "have hit the American trifecta of privilege" because they are "white, straight males."

However, contributor Mike Barnicle was not offended. In fact, he agreed.

"With all due respect, your three boys have hit the American trifecta of privilege," Roberts told Barnicle on MSNBC. “They are white, straight males, presumably.”

Roberts continued: "If you are an ‘other’ in this country, and that means if you are an LGBT, if you are Hispanic, if you are black, if you are a woman, right now, we are fighting to prove why ‘other’ is not bad, and why we are due the value of American rights."

The MSNBC anchor also claimed that "Trayvon's rights were obvious violated" as he was "stalked, followed, presumed to be suspicious from the get-go."

Later in the day, Roberts called on MSNBC to embark upon an "I am other" agenda.

"Isn’t that the — and I want to challenge this network: we had to have an 'I am other' agenda and have a forum for it, because others need to unite to talk about this and figure out where we are going as a country," he said.
