Author Orson Scott Card is under fire, once again, over his conservative views on homosexuality. Gay activists, angry over his opposition to same-sex unions, are boycotting a feature film rendition of his popular book "Ender's Game."
Launching a full-out boycott, Geek Out, a gay rights group, has assembled SkipEndersGame.com, a website completely devoted to convincing citizens to ignore Card's film. And the organization is starting its efforts months before the movie hits the big screen.

"Ender’s Game, Orson Scott Card’s 1985 bestseller, is now a major motion picture from Summit Entertainment, opening Friday, November 1, 2013," reads the boycott site. "Even as the film’s marketing campaign scrambles to distance the film from the author’s controversial reputation, Summit is angling 'Ender’s Game' to be the next big sci-fi blockbuster, potentially making an all-new fortune for [National Organization for Marriage] board member Card."
The website, though, gets even more explicit in what it wants gay rights activists and others opposed to Card's traditional marriage stance to do. In addition to skipping the movie, SkipEndersGame.com instructs citizens to also avoid purchasing merchandise associated with the film.

"Do not buy a ticket at the theater, do not purchase the DVD, do not watch it on-demand," the text reads. "Ignore all merchandise and toys. However much you may have admired his books, keep your money out of Orson Scott Card’s pockets."
This Hollywood Reporter article from earlier this year provides an overview of why gay rights advocates likely despise the author:
In 2009, he joined the board of directors of the right-leaning National Organization for Marriage, which has been at the forefront of opposing same-sex marriage laws. That same year, he penned an opinion piece for the Mormon Times in which he argued: “Marriage has only one definition, and any government that attempts to change it is my mortal enemy. I will act to destroy that government and bring it down." In another column last year, he called homosexuality a “reproductive dysfunction” born of choice.
If people are really passionate about not seeing the film, they can even take part in Skip Ender's Game events, which will take place in New York, Toronto, Chicago, Dallas, Orlando and Seattle. In the end, the anti-Card coalition stands against what it calls "fear-mongering and religious bullying."
