Unreal': Take a Look at the Gigantic, Possibly Record-Breaking Shark Reeled in by Texas Man

An 11-foot-long mako shark, weighing 1,323.5 pounds, recently caught in Huntington Beach, Calif., might break a world record.

The gigantic shark was reeled in by Jason Johnston of Mesquite, Texas, during a recent fishing trip, CBS Los Angeles reports.

But he had to work for the possibly record-breaking catch.

Johnston said the shark required a "quarter-mile of line" and "five times he came out of the water over 20 feet."

He continued: “It’s unreal. This thing is definitely a killing machine. Any wrong step, I could have gone out of the boat and down to the bottom of the ocean."

The shark's measurements had not been officially confirmed as a world record as of Tuesday. Either way, it will likely be the greatest catch the man will ever make.
