Anti-Bullying Activist: Sarah Palin Chewing Tobacco Is 'Upside of Oral Cancers

"Woke up to Sarah Palin's voice. She's taken up chewing tobacco now cuz LIBRULS  or Bloomberg or something. Now seeing upside of oral cancers."

Sex columnist and founder of the much-ballyhooed LGBT anti-bullying organization Dan Savage has harnessed his considerable platform once again to wish harm on someone he disagrees with.

This time it was Sarah Palin.

Check out his Twitter post:

During Palin's NRA convention speech on Friday, she threatened in jest to chew tobacco onstage as a jab at New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's health-conscious agenda:

“Last time I saw some of my friends who are here at the NRA convention, I was onstage doing a speech, using a visual image to make a point about the Big Gulp ban. Well now I see that the mayor of New York now wants to ban public displays of legal tobacco products.”

Then Palin showed the crowd a chewing tobacco tin. “I tell ya…don’t make me do it,” she teased. “It’s funny because Todd’s been looking for this all morning.”

Sarah Palin addresses the annual NRA Convention May 3, 2013 in Houston, Texas. In speaking about the tobacco restrictions New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg wants to put in place, the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate brought out a tin of smokeless tobacco, much like she did when Bloomberg banned 32 ounce sugared drinks. Apparently that was too much for Savage, who unloaded his thoughts online.

The backlash was swift, to which Savage replied:

Some questioned the "bullying" definition that Savage defended:

Savage has quite the history to date of verbally pulverizing the opposition:

  • On a July 2011 appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher, Savage said in reference to Republicans, "I wish they were all f**king dead."
  • During 2009, Savage tried to coin the term “Saddlebacking” in order to target pro-Proposition 8 Saddleback Church Pastor Rick Warren; he defined the term as “the phenomenon of Christian teens engaging in unprotected anal sex in order to preserve their virginities.”
  • Savage also said, “F— you, Utah,” since Mormons largely backed Proposition 8.
  • In 2006 Savage said that Green Party Senate candidate Carl Romanelli, running against Democrat Bob Casey (the eventual winner), “should be dragged behind a pickup truck until there’s nothing left but the rope.”
  • Savage created SpreadingSantorum.com and started a “Google bomb” to take down the former Republican presidential candidate, defining him as: “The frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the by-product of anal sex.” Savage also boasted he would love to hate-f*** Santorum. [...]
  • During the 2012 presidential race Savage referred to conservative gays as "house fa**ots."

In a 2012 speech to high school students sponsored by the National Scholastic Press Association and Journalism Education Association, Savage castigated the Bible and its adherents; then he called teenage Christians who walked out of his speech “pansy-assed." Here’s a clip (caution: language):
